About the Event

Screened in 35mm!

Jane Russell, Jeff Chandler and the Arizona desert light up the screen in glorious Technicolor in Foxfire, a melodramatic tale of interracial marriage and cultural discrimination in a small mining town. Based on a novel by Anya Seton, and adapted by Pulitzer Prize winner Ketti Frings, the film is guilty of “redface” casting of non-Native actors, but still presents an interesting look at Native American race relations, interracial marriage and miscarriage, which were uncommon cinematic themes in 1955.

Introduced by Christina Rice, author of Mean...Moody...Magnificent!: Jane Russell and the Marketing of a Hollywood Legend. Rice will sign copies of her book following the screening.

Directed by Joseph Pevey | Starring Jane Russell, Jeff Chandler and Dan Duryea
