Native Voices, America’s Leading Native American Theatre Company, presents the Rolling World Premiere of Where the Summit Meets the Stars by Frank Henry Kaash Katasse (Tlingit)
When a near-death experience derails her flight through Southeast Alaska, Rose awakens to find herself in the care of the kind man who pulled her to safety. But who is this mysterious stranger? And how is it possible that she survived? As they journey by boat through the darkness and fog, Rose untangles the mysteries of her past, questions the world around her, and comes to an inescapable crossroads. Where the Summit Meets the Stars is an ethereal Alaska Native story driven by music, dance, and the culture of the Tlingit people.

Frank Henry Kaash Katasse is Tlingít from the Tsaagweidí clan. He is an Emmy Nominated writer as well as an actor, author, director, producer, improviser, educator, and playwright. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Hawaii: Mānoa. Katasse lives and works in Douglas, Alaska and has worked on numerous productions at Perseverance Theatre. He made his professional playwriting debut with Native Voices in 2016 with They Don’t Talk Back, which premiered at the Autry, La Jolla Playhouse, and Perseverance.
Josephine Keefe, she/her / ROSE is an enrolled member of the Nez Perce tribe and theatre artist residing in the Pacific Northwest. She has worked professionally as an actor for both stage and film, as well as a director and professor of theatre arts for over a decade. Select credits include: A Christmas Carol (ACT Seattle), Sovereignty (Harlequin Productions), Bug (Civic Theatre), and The Psychic Life of Savages (LATC). She received her MFA from UCLA School of Theatre, Arts and Television, and her BFA from The Theatre School at DePaul University. She thanks her two kids and her partner for their unwavering love and support!
Duane Minard, he/him / JOHN is a California Native American originating from the Paiute Reservation in Bishop, California. He is an enrolled member of the Yurok Nation. Some of his theater credits include Lying with Badgers, They Don’t Talk Back, Off the Rails, Ramona (19 seasons), and The Bad Seed. Minard is also a playwright, Native dance choreographer, and Native drummer and dancer. He is currently in post- production of a new full- length Native film, A Christmas in Ochopee.
Kholan Studi, he/they / ANTHONY is an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation and has worked in the Los Angeles theatre scene including at Native Voices as Eddy in They Don’t Talk Back by Frank Kaash Katasse and Edward in Bingo Hall by Dillon Chitto. His other credits include Elias Boudinot in Sovereignty by Mary Katherine Nagle (Marine Theater Company). During the pandemic, Studi took part in Perseverance Theatre’s production of Spirit of the Valley by Frank Kaash Katasse. He was an understudy for Between 2 Knees by the 1491’s where he lived every actor’s nightmare by taking the stage for part of the run (Pale Face/William at Yale Repertory Theatre and Isaiah/Eddie at Seattle Rep). You can see him in the upcoming short film Ricky Killed A Guy by Blake Pickens as Milo alongside Nathan Apedaca aka DogFace.
Anna Neelaatughaa Clock, she/her / MUSICIAN is Koyukon Athabascan and Eyak. She works full time as a Native language teacher, teaching Lingít (Tlingít) and Denaakkʼe (Koyukon Athabascan). She loves to laugh, connect with friends, and eat. Her latest hobby is boxing and she practices Muay Thai in the evenings. Her fatherʼs people are Koyukon Athabascan from Kaltag, Alaska. She grew up in Seward and lives now in Anchorage on the land of the Denaʼina people.
Taylour Miller Fisher or TMO, they/them / MUSICIAN’S APPRENTICE is a Black and Tlingít two spirited storyteller. Originating from L’eeneidí Aanx’aak Hít of Xutsnoowú kwáan, raised on Aak’w kwáan and Muwekma Ohlone land. Stemming from the seeds of activists and artists, TMO finds instinctual ways of integrating their activism and expression. TMO’s personal work explores the experiences of surviving colonialism and white supremacy in a Black body. TMO is known for curating expressive art spaces, from The Take Off arts in Oakland, California to GRLZ in Juneau, Alaska. Both spaces are live multi-media creative art exhibitions dedicated to the giving platforms to people with marginalized identities. As an educator and activist, TMO has developed opportunities for youth to heal from trauma through storytelling. TMO hopes to inspire change and collective healing, illuminating the spirit by highlighting the importance of culture within the ever-present challenges and realities of marginalized communities.
